Two books I'm thinking about...
"Blindness" by Jose Saramago. He's Portuguese and the book won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998. Figured I'd read it and throw it into all my witty, educated conversations I'm sure to be having in Libson.
"The Bible Salesman: A Novel" by Clyde Edgerton. It's not available until 8/11/08, but my Goodreads monthly email quotes David Sedaris on it: "How good it feels to throw back one's head and howl with a great comic novel. The 'burial tuck' alone should make The Bible Salesman a classic."
We are currently reading "My Life in France" by Julia Child. I'm sending out an email proposing we change the date from Tuesday, July 15th, because it's the Odyssesy OPPG meeting.
